Prof. Miglinas currently serves as a President of Lithuanian Kidney Foundation and as a President of Lithuanian Hypertension Society. He also takes a lead to Nephrology Center at the Vilnius University hospital, Vilnius University in Vilnius (Lithuania). Prof. Miglinas received his medical degree from Vilnius University in Lithuania. He trained as an intern in Vilnius, and as a Senior House Officer (International Society of Nephrology Fellow) at Glasgow University Western Infirmary in Scotland, U.K. He has been practicing as an EDTA/ERA Fellow in Vienna University Hospital (Austria) in the field of blood group incompatible kidney transplantation in 2007. Dr. Miglinas underwent a training in interventional nephrology and dialysis vascular access management at the Miami University Hospital (USA) in 2009. Dr. Miglinas has also been trained in dual organ transplantation (kidney-pancreas) management at the Transplant and Renal Education Center, Westmead Hospital, Sydney University (Australia) under guidance of Prof. J. Chapman in 2013. Dr. Miglinas has been working within the team, which has introduced pancreas transplantation in Lithuania, and currently is working on pancreatic islets transplantation project. He also founded the blood group incompatible living donor kidney transplantation programme in the country. He has published important data on cardiovascular disease management in chronic kidney disease patients, diabetic kidney disease, arterial hypertension, renal artery disease, kidney transplantation, arterial stiffness, rare tubulopathies and glomerulopathies. Prof. Miglinas is frequently invited to speak throughout Lithuania, Baltic states and abroad.
