Christina Lampe is Director of the Centre for Rare Diseases of the Department of Child Neurology, Epileptology and Social Pediatrics, Center for Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine at the University of Giessen, Germany.
After studying medicine at the Humboldt-University of Berlin (Charité), Germany, she completed her internship at the Surgical Department of the same university. Since 2007, she has been a consultant in surgery. During 2007, Dr Lampe first worked in a surgical private practice and then changed to the Villa Metabolica at the Department of Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine, Johannes Gutenberg-University of Mainz, Germany.
In January 2014, together with Professor Maurizio Scarpa, Dr Lampe set up a Centre for Rare Diseases at the Dr Horst Schmidt Kliniken in Wiesbaden, Germany, mainly focussed on MPS and other lysosomal diseases.
Since October 2018, she set up a Center for Rare Diseases at the University Hospital in Giessen (ZSEGI), Germany, where she is taking care of a large number of paediatric and adult patients with mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) and other lysosomal diseases.
Dr Lampe is investigator and co-investigator of several clinical trials on lysosomal diseases.
